Hail Roof Damage

Central Texas is known for some pretty big storms in the Spring and Summer months.  Many of these storms can create severe thunderstorms that produce smaller pea size hail to golfball size or even larger hailstones.  Depending on the age and the materials of your home's roof, any of these types of hail can produce adequate damage requiring a repair or complete roof replacement.

SUSPECT HAIL DAMAGE/ WHAT TO LOOK FOR?

The fastest way is to determine damage is to look for any dents or broken parts of gutters, skylights, windows, or even dented airconditioner units.  Getting on your roof to determine damage should be done very carefully and by a trained professional.

Hail damage can look like a few granules have come loose on the roof, There’s not necessarily a hole in the roof, you’d be surprised at the force it takes to knock the surface materials off of a shingle. When this is discovered, the integrity of the shingle has been compromised, and a water leak can develop over time. Even the smallest hail impact on a shingle can lead to a roof leak.

Roof Wind Damage

Roof damage from storms

If you see raised, missing, or out-of-place shingles you may have experienced roof wind damage.

Significant wind can cause shingles to blow off the roof deck. Missing shingles can lead to leaks and other interior damage. Other roof wind damage may not be easy to see, especially if the adhesive seal that provides a water-shedding surface is broken.
